Utilizing concepts of process communication model to reduce behavior problems in a general education classroom

The research collected has shown that the Process Communication Model provides\ud a foundation that can develop into a positive communication tool for both students and\ud teachers through the utilizing and evaluating of the different personality types within a\ud classroom community. Through this research resources can be developed to use in dealing\ud with the needs and characteristics of specific personality types. In addition, utilization of\ud this process can reduce behaviors and discipline problems and the amount of energy spent\ud by both teacher and student within the classroom.\ud Focusing on the teacher's communication styles and interactions with six focus\ud students, this study will be monitored through pre- and post-PCM exposure surveys,\ud interviews, and observations. These students include two behaviorally challenging students,\ud two students considered non-disruptive and two "star" students.\ud The Process Communication Model offers information that deconstructs personality\ud structures in order to rebuild a more effective communication base interactions between\ud students and teachers. Providing teachers with the tools to accomplish this are critical in\ud developing a learning environment that is positive and successful for all learners
