Third grade students' reading comprehension was evaluated after using two\ud reading strategies; Directed Reading- Thinking Activity (DR-TA) and Literature\ud Circle groups. During the Directed Reading- Thinking Activity, students were\ud asked to predict, confirm, and revise predictions with teacher guidance. During\ud Literature Circles, students choose a book to read with several other students. In\ud doing so, students formed their own groups. Students read, completed role sheets,\ud and discussed sections of the reading as a group. Both strategies are studentcentered,\ud in that they both allow students to construct their own meaning and be\ud exposed to peer ideas.
