Writing Past the Silence follows one woman's experience of\ud infertility, from being processed through the medical system, to her\ud struggle with stigma and feelings of inadequacy, to her continuing efforts\ud to reclaim and redefine womanhood in some personally meaningful way.\ud Throughout the memoir, the tension between public disclosure and the\ud private self is reinforced as the narrator encounters barriers that leave\ud her feeling isolated from the normative, fertile world.\ud Keywords: Memoir; Infertility; Silence; Womanhood; Stigma; Disabilit
