Para entender este processo, foi necessário observar a formação política administrativa dos atuais municípios de Sul Brasil, União do Oeste, Jardinópolis e Irati, no contexto da migração e do processo colonizador, buscando entender as especificidades e ações relacionadas aos grupos de migrantes e imigrantes, que habitavam e, posteriormente, fixaram-se na região. Também mencionamos a presença das atuações colonizadoras das empresas responsáveis por este processo de ocupação. Pretendemos entender as questões associadas aos sujeitos formadores da sociedade local, suas práticas em relação ao ambiente e a paisagem enquanto influenciadora e influenciada por esses sujeitos. Mostramos dessa forma, como o trabalho desempenhado no cotidiano, e o lazer enquanto divertimento social e individual dos moradores do oeste catarinense, estavam conectados. Para enfatizar estas questões foram utilizadas como materiais de pesquisa bibliografias, fotografias, mapas e documentos cartoriais. Além disso, utilizamo-nos de fonte oral, que deu suporte a pesquisa ao mostrar as memórias através de depoimentos daqueles que participaram do processo de colonização e interação social, ambiental e econômica da região.This dissertation aims to analyze the practice of leisure and work in the West of Santa Catarina between 1920 and 1980. To understand this process, it was necessary to observe the administrative political formation of the present municipalities of Sul Brasil, União do Oeste , Jardinópolis and Irati, in the context of migration and the colonization process, seeking to understand the specificities and actions related to the groups of migrants and immigrants who inhabited and later settled in the region. We also mentioned the presence of the colonizing activities of the companies responsible for this occupation process. We intend to understand the issues associated with the subjects that form the local society, their practices in relation to the environment and the landscape as influential and influenced by these subjects. We showed, in this way, how the work performed in daily life, and leisure as social and individual fun of the inhabitants of the west of Santa Catarina, were connected. To emphasize these questions were used as research materials bibliographies, photographs, maps and documentary records. In addition, we used an oral source, which supported research by showing the memories through testimonies of those who participated in the process of colonization and social, environmental and economic interaction of the region
