Efficacy in the treatment of chemical dependence in a clinical and a religious institution.

The objective of this research was to analyze the treatments performed in two institutions for chemical dependents, in the rehabilitation process aiming to identify the differences regarding the effectiveness of the treatment offered. The central problem is to understand how the conditions of treatment of such institutions have been developed to aid in the process of drug rehabilitation and abstinence effectively. The basic principle is religion as a therapeutic possibility in chemical dependence compared to the medical-hospital treatment offered by the Brazilian Ministry of Health. In this research, patients of both types of institution were interviewed and the information obtained was tabulated for presentation and analysis. The approach was descriptive-comparative, being used in the technical field research of interview from a closed questionnaire (quantitative) and open questions (qualitative), which made it possible to compare the subjects from their reports, personal experiences and therapeutic practices. An analysis of the relations between the two institutions was made based on their protocols, approach, time of hospitalization and follow-up of the patient after discharge. This research is justified by the fact that religion acts in the process of healing and liberation, a fact that must be studied in a scientific way. After the analyzes and considerations of the results obtained we found that religion would be a safe alternative allowing social insertion and longer time of abstinence by drugs.O uso de drogas é muito antigo na história da humanidade e vem alcançando números alarmantes na sociedade moderna. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi analisar os tratamentos realizados em duas instituições para dependentes químicos, no processo de reabilitação, visando identificar as diferenças quanto à eficácia do tratamento oferecido. O problema central foi compreender como as condições de tratamento nestas instituições, desenvolvem-se para auxiliar no processo de reabilitação e abstinência das drogas de forma eficaz. O princípio básico é a religião como possibilidade terapêutica na dependência química, em comparação ao tratamento médico-hospitalar oferecido pelo Ministério da Saúde (MS). Nessa pesquisa, pacientes das duas instituição pesquisadas foram entrevistados(as) e as informações obtidas foram tabuladas para apresentação e análise. A abordagem foi de caráter descritivo-comparativo, utilizando-se na pesquisa de campo a técnica de entrevista a partir de um questionário fechado (quantitativo) e questões abertas (qualitativo), que possibilitaram comparar os sujeitos a partir de seus relatos, experiências pessoais e as práticas terapêuticas. Realizou-se uma análise das relações entre as duas instituições a partir de seus protocolos, abordagem, tempo de internação e o acompanhamento do paciente após a alta. A pesquisa se justificou pelo fato de que a religião atua no processo de cura e libertação, fato este que deve ser estudado de forma científica. Após as análises e considerações dos resultados obtidos, constatou-se que a religião seria uma alternativa segura possibilitando inserção social e maior tempo de abstinência ao uso de drogas por drogas
