Indesejáveis do Reino: procedimentos de exclusão e políticas discriminatórias aplicadas aos ciganos no Império Português

No presente artigo procuraremos refletir sobre a constituição dos ciganos como grupo étnico na modernidade portuguesa, de modo a analisarmos como esses passaram a integrar a categoria dos indesejáveis do reino de Portugal. Nesse sentido, destacaremos os distintos mecanismos de exclusão e medidas discriminatórias aplicadas aos ciganos que viviam nas fronteiras do reino luso e de suas conquistas ultramarinas.ABSTRACT: In the present article we will be pursuing reflection about the constitution of the gypsies as an ethnic group on the early modern Portuguese society, in order to analyze how they were incorporated into the category of the undesirables of the kingdom of Portugal. In this way, we will highlight the different mechanisms of exclusion and discriminatory measures applied to gypsies in the kingdom of Portugal and its ultramarines conquests.KEYWORDS: Gypsies, Early Modern Portugal, Ethnic-racial segregation
