Thesis (M.S.)--Humboldt State University, Kinesiology, 1999This qualitative study examined the goal setting techniques of successful collegiate women's basketball coaches. The purpose of this study was to describe the goal setting strategies of successful basketball coaches and to determine if they support the current goal setting theories in the sports field. Ten (1 Division I, 5 Division II, and 4 Division III) coaches from each division of the National Collegiate Athletic Association were interviewed during their pre, mid, and post 1998/99 basketball season.
