Oral health status of people with parkinson’s disease members of gruparfa group, concepción-chile

Objetivo: determinar o estado de saúde bucal das pessoas com doença de Parkinson (DP), membros do Grupo de Pacientes com Parkinson e suas Famílias (GRUPARFA) de Concepción-Chile. Materiais e Métodos: neste estudo transversal, um questionário foi usado para obter dados demográficos e médicos encontro; pacientes foram submetidos a um exame odontológico para avaliar a saúde bucal de pessoas com DP de GRUPARFA (n = 30). Este estudo foi aprovado pelo Comitê de Bioética da Faculdade de Odontologia de Universidade de Concepción. Resultados: 20 pessoas com PD foram avaliados, 70% eram do sexo masculino. A idade média foi de 70,7 anos (48-84 anos). Uma pessoa (5%) usou sem medicação, 30% usaram um medicamento, 35% dois e 30% três ou mais. Do total, 55% foram parcialmente dentato maxilar e mandibular; 45% e 40% foram desdentado maxilar e mandibular, respectivamente, e 5% tinham dentição mandibular completa. Apenas 15% maxilar e 40% maxilares e mandibulares próteses removíveis. Higiene Oral Simplificada Média O índice (OHI-S) em pacientes dentados (n = 12) foi de 1,47 e 100% deles tinham cáries. O tratamento periodontal foi não foi necessário em 8,3%, 25% necessitaram apenas de instruções de higiene bucal, 41,7% necessitaram de remoção de cálculo e 25% deles necessitaram de tratamento periodontal complexo. Conclusão: todas as pessoas com DP avaliadas tinham dentição parcial ou edentulismo em pelo menos uma maxila, mas nem todos deles usaram próteses removíveis. A higiene bucal índice foi em média regular. Only 15% used maxillary and 40% maxillary and mandibular removable dentures. Average Simplified Oral Hygiene Index (OHI-S) in dentate patients (n=12) was 1.47 and 100% of them had caries. Periodontal treatment was not needed by 8.3%, 25% only needed oral hygiene instruction, 41.7% required calculus removal and 25% of them needed complex periodontal treatment. Conclusion: all people with PD evaluated had partial dentition or edentulism in at least one maxilla, but not all of them used removable dentures. The oral hygiene index was on average regular. All dentate patients had caries and most needed education or periodontal treatment
