The objective of this study was to evaluate the quality of refrigerated raw milk in the Paraná state, encompassing the cities of Arapoti, Carambeí and Castro. Data collection was conducted from July 2008 to June 2011. Were collected monthly, on average, 94 samples of raw milk refrigerated in Arapoti, 119 samples and 565 samples in Carambeí Castro, and were sent for analysis of total bacterial count. In order to check if the milk is of good quality, the analysis results were compared with the total bacterial count limit set forth in Instrução Normativa nº51, of Ministério da Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento.
