The current article deals the relationship between the themes of musical education and citizenship upbringing. The purpose is to discuss the citizen’s concept and to articulate such concept with the elements that constitute object of the musical education. By means of the contents analysis, therefore the concepts of musical education and citizenship are discussed, and also the legal aspects which rule the music teaching in the current Brazilian’s legislation are seen.
