This study mainly looks at the relationship between fertility and development within\ud nations and their relationship to one another. After an introduction discussing fertility,\ud population growth, and development in historical, contemporary, and theoretical terms,\ud the first section uses quantitative measures to show the strong correlation between total\ud fertility rate and the human development index which acts as a proxy for development.\ud After establishing this correlation, the next section draws upon four case studies; Mexico,\ud China, Israel, and Ethiopia to examine historical transitions in fertility and development\ud and see when these occurred in relation to one another in each state.
