ENSINO DE CIÊNCIAS NOS ANOS INICIAIS DO ENSINO FUNDAMENTAL: A FORMAÇÃO DE CONCEITOS CIENTÍFICOS E O DESENVOLVIMENTO DOS ALUNOS

Research carried out by this author in Russian schools (1972, 1988) and confirmed by Rosa and Sylvio (2016), Peres and Freitas (2013), among others, verified the predominance, in Elementary School, of education based on empirical knowledge, not knowledge theoretical-scientific. From the premise of developmental theory that it is the theoretical-scientific knowledge that best contributes to the development of the students' higher psychological processes, this study was designed to make observations of science classes with students of the fourth year of elementary school, after previous studies of the theory made with the teacher. It was assumed that knowledge organized and taught in the form of concepts could contribute more effectively to the development of theoretical-scientific thinking and thus promote the mental development of students. The basic question was: are the students appropriating theoretical-scientific knowledge, that is, are they learning by concepts or by mere memorization of content? The observation of classes was done through written and video records, and semi-structured interviews with the teacher. The prevalence in the classes of empirical knowledge teaching can be pointed out as results, with rare manifestations in the students of internalization of theoretical-conceptual knowledge and the identification of limitations in the pedagogicaldidactic knowledge of the content by the teacher. However, evidence has been observed in a few students of movements of thought towards the formation of theoretical-scientific thinking.A pesquisa teve como objetivo observar e analisar práticas de ensino de uma professora dos Anos Iniciais, numa escola pública, em relação à formação de conceitos em Ciências, tendo como referência a teoria histórico cultural de Vigotski e a teoria do ensino desenvolvimental de Davídov. Pesquisas realizadas por esse autor em escolas russas (1972, 1988) e confirmadas por Rosa e Sylvio (2016), Peres e Freitas (2013), entre outros, constataram a predominância, no Ensino Fundamental, do ensino baseado no conhecimento empírico não no conhecimento teórico-científico. A partir da premissa da teoria do ensino desenvolvimental de que é o conhecimento teórico-científico que melhor contribui para o desenvolvimento dos processos psicológicos superiores dos alunos, este estudo foi planejado para realizar observações de aulas de Ciências com alunos do quarto ano do Ensino Fundamental, após estudos prévios da teoria realizados com a professora. Presumia-se que conhecimentos organizados e ensinados na forma de conceitos poderiam contribuir mais efetivamente com o desenvolvimento do pensamento teórico-científico e, assim, promover o desenvolvimento mental dos alunos. A pergunta básica proposta foi: os alunos estão se apropriando de conhecimentos teórico-científicos, isto é, estão aprendendo por conceitos ou por mera memorização do conteúdo? A observação de aulas deu-se por meio de registros escritos e vídeo, e de entrevista semi-estruturada com a professora. Podem ser apontados como resultados a prevalência nas aulas do ensino de conhecimentos empíricos, com raras manifestações nos alunos de internalização de conhecimentos teóricoconceituais e a identificação de limitações no conhecimento pedagógico-didático do conteúdo por parte da professora.
