Tapestry weaving

The history of weaving is as old as man himself, but the development of decorative woven wall hangings as an art form, is comparatively short. The objective of my thesis has been to study and learn some of the ancient weaving techniques and to combine them with contemporary elements of design, color, materials and messages. In order to make a strong personal statement in what I believe to be long-neglected and almost forgotten art form. The inclusion of the drawings, which preceded the weavings, has been to show the relationship of the line and mass of the human form and how it was possible, in the weaving, to add the textual surfaces and thus create another dimension.
