Drug and alcohol intervention, prevention, and peer education program in Jewish orthodox high schools

Includes bibliographical references (pages 29-32)Drug and alcohol addiction is a growing problem in current generations. It is part of a destructive, sometimes deadly, cycle that often continues to be passed down within families and is increasing amongst today???s youth. Early prevention and intervention is an effective way to help stop the disease of addiction from spreading. The orthodox Jewish community generally avoids the discussion of addiction altogether, allowing for a problem that also has prevalence in Jewish high schools to be left unattended to. This project is a tool for starting the discussion and taking action to help stop addiction in the Jewish community. It is a program to be used for the purpose of prevention and intervention of substance abuse and addiction within modern orthodox Jewish high schools. The program emphasizes intensive therapy and self-introspection, as well as impacting adolescents through positive peer influence and altruism as a means of recovery and sobriety
