This is the first book to systematically apply sociological perspectives\ud to substance use and abuse. In drawing upon major sociological concepts\ud and theories, I attempt to show that established sociological perspectives\ud can be comprehensively tested in the practical field of substance use and\ud abuse for their validity and utility. In developing theoretical explanations\ud for substance, substance use, and substance users, I want to demonstrate\ud that the established field of substance use and abuse can be insightfully\ud enlightened with major theoretical perspectives from sociology
