This paper summarizes the reality of building campus-wide information literacy programs from the perspectives of two different institutions. A brief literature review is included to identify helpful research in this area of academic librarianship that may be unknown to newer generations of instruction librarians. Two campuses from the California State University System (Northridge and Los Angeles) discuss their approaches and successes at both garnering support for and developing campus-wide information literacy programs that incorporate information literacy student learning outcomes into required General Education programming
