In the past decade there has been a large increase in the number of corporations adopting workplace policies relating to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) employees. Although companies initially were concerned about the costs of adopting nondiscrimination policies, including providing benefits for domestic partners and employees going through gender transition, an increasing number of companies are now viewing these policies as having a positive impact on the corporate bottom line. In 2011, the authors of this chapter conducted a study to evaluate what leading corporations in the United States identify as the positive economic benefits of LGBT-related workplace policies. The results of the study were updated in 2012
