Collecting Bulgarian print materials in an era of shrinking library materials exchange budgets and changing collection development priorities represents a unique set of challenges and opportunities for librarians who are responsible for East European collections in North American academic libraries. Bulgarian Studies as a discipline often forms a part of a larger and traditionally Russian-dominated field of Slavic and East European Studies.
