Project (M.S.W., Social Work) -- California State University, Sacramento, 2010.This study examined the importance of support systems for kinship providers and identified gaps in the system of care for children in kinship care. The study used a non-random purposive sample of 45 professionals working with kinship care providers in Sacramento County. The study findings indicate the importance of increased financial support, training for kinship providers to understand the dynamics of caring for kin, increased access to services and social service professionals??? increased involvement through consistent home visits and supervision.
