Moving into our future: the inclusion of high school dance curriculum in small learning communities

Project (M.A., Education (Curriculum and Instruction)) -- California State University, Sacramento, 2010.This project is an Alternative Culminating Experience for a Master of Arts in Education: Curriculum and Instruction with an Elective Emphasis in Arts in Education. It follows Pathway III: Developing a curriculum, program, or performance related to arts education or arts in education. The project includes the review of relevant literature in arts education, Small Learning Communities and dance education. The process of training in curriculum writing for Small Learning Communities and the actual writing of courses was the main area of focus. The courses were based on high school dance repertory, performance, production, choreography and Improvisation. Documentation and submission of the two courses to the Stockton Unified School District board for approval was the final outcome of the project.Education (Curriculum and Instruction
