The effectiveness of a stress management workshop in reducing stress and increasing aptitude for social capital

Project (M.S.W., Social Work) -- California State University, Sacramento, 2010.This study explored the effectiveness of a short term stress management and relaxation workshop in reducing stress levels and in increasing the aptitude for the building of social capital capacity. The researchers used secondary data from the pre and post stress checklist that the participants in a stress reduction workshop had completed. The correlation between the stress levels of the participants and the perceived helpfulness of the stress management workshop as rated by the participants was calculated. The two tailed Pearson???s correlation [r= -.472, p>.05] was statistically significant. This project is a collaboration between Alexander Jones and Mauricio E. Verduzco, graduate students of the Division of Social Work at Sacramento State University. Both researchers obtained permission to conduct this study and they equally collaborated on formulating the problem, literature review, data analysis and writing the report of the findings.
