Among the various symptoms evoked, sensory irritation not only figures prominently but also lends itself to psychophysical measurement in humans (Cometto-Muñiz and Cain 1992, Hudnell et al. 1992, Kjærgaard et al. 1992, Mølhave et al. 1991).
