Pathophysiology is the study of the biological and physical manifestations of disease as they correlate with the underlying abnormalities and physiological disturbances. Pathophysiology does not deal directly with the treatment of disease. Rather, it explains the processes within the body that result in the signs and symptoms of a disease. In this course, students will examine the phenomena that produce alterations in human physiologic function and the resulting human response. Upon completion of this course, students will understand pathophysiological changes, including how various pathological responses are manifested and progress in the body and the resulting primary and secondary effects.
