GIS tool to demonstrate Mauryan Empire

Includes bibliographical references (p. 57)The purpose of this Software is to demonstrate the rise and fall of Maurya Dynasty in a more interactive manner. The application is developed in Java with MOJO (MapObjects Java Objects), provided by ESRI and maps were developed using ARCVIEW software. This software is a graphical interface tool developed to inspire students to learn and explore facts about Maurya Dynasty. Maps were developed for each and every empire in Maurya Dynasty and prominent locations of each empire are pointed in the respective map. Links to the Internet are provided to make the application more interactive and informative, which could help enhance student???s interest and motivation for learning. Moreover, the students could also customize the application environment to suit their individual interests. By utilizing modern computer technology to present an important subject in an engaging and interesting fashion, this work could become effective learning software in the classroom not just for students, but also the instructors who can handle bigger class sizes with a greater ease
