Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) is defined by facial dysmorphology, growth deficits, and central nervous system abnormalities. A larger range of effects, including neurocognitive and behavioral dysfunction in the absence of these criteria is reflected in the non-diagnostic term Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD). Understanding the neural basis of these effects is essential for treatment and intervention development.
