Redistribution in cash is growing in popularity as a tool for poverty alleviation. This dissertation studies the effects of a randomized controlled trial of a large, one-time unconditional cash transfer to poor households in rural Kenya. Almost US 11 million was distributed to over 10,000 households across over 650 villages in Kenya.
