“Communities of Playmaking: Guill�n de Castro in the Development of the Comedia” examines the development of the Spanish comedia through the works of Valencian playwright Guill�n de Castro, whose trajectory through various networks of cultural power, from Valencia, Naples, and finally Madrid at the turn of the seventeenth century demonstrates how social, political, and regional realities of the Peninsula affected and influenced early modern Spanish theater.
