Researchers typically understand monogamy as a social construction buttressed by religious and capitalistic ideologies. A practice that is rooted in male dominance and patriarchal lineage. Yet, western society deems monogamy as morally superior and, as such, is a defining factor in relationship quality. This study oversampled LGBTQ individuals in an attempt to advance two goals.
