Ahjumawi Lava Springs State Park is a place of beauty and sacredness. The\ud location of the park is part of traditional Pit River Ahjumawi land. Within the park\ud many sites are recorded and these sites are connected by prehistoric and contemporary\ud trails. Landscape theory introduces the idea that these sites and trails are part of the cultural\ud landscape of the Ahjumawi. To assist in understanding the cultural landscape of\ud the trails, both oral interview and archaeological data are used. By studying oral interview\ud and archaeological data, it is possible to conclude that the trails function today as\ud in the past as a way to connect spiritual/sacred and resource areas and information relating to the trails and is passed down f...
