Funções Executivas nas Crianças e Formas de as Melhorar em Contextos Educativos

The main objective of this paper is to contribute to a greater knowledge of the field of scientific study of executive functions, especially among professionals and researchers of preschool and basic education. In this sense, based on the evidence, we seek to substantiate the crucial role of executive functioning in the development and learning of children. For this purpose, we proceeded to a non-systematic literature review on which to base the choice of concepts and issues addressed. It is intended to show that in recent decades very significant progress has been made in understanding executive functions during childhood, namely how these functions change during development, how they influence the behaviour and learning of children and which are the activities and curriculum programs for the promotion of FE that have the best results.O principal objetivo deste trabalho é contribuir para um maior conhecimento do campo de estudo científico das funções executivas em crianças em especial entre profissionais e investigadores da educação pré-escolar e do ensino básico. Nesse sentido, procura-se fundamentar com base na evidência o papel crucial do funcionamento executivo no desenvolvimento e aprendizagem das crianças. Para esse efeito, procedeu-se a uma revisão não sistemática da literatura na qual se fundamenta a escolha dos conceitos e questões abordadas. Procura-se mostrar que nas últimas décadas têm sido alcançados progressos muito significativos na compreensão das funções executivas (FE) durante a infância, nomeadamente, como é que essas funções vão mudando durante o desenvolvimento, como é que influenciam o comportamento e a aprendizagem das crianças e quais são as atividades e programas curriculares de promoção das FE que apresentam melhores resultados
