Perceived stress and stress-related illness as symptoms of burnout have increased in adolescents. The aim of the present study was to investigate if mindfulness, global- and competence-based self-esteem are potential predictors for perceived stress and symptoms of burnout in adolescents. 143 upper secondary students participated in the study. The results of hierarchical regression analyses showed that higher levels of mindfulness and global-self-esteem were associated with decreased levels of perceived stress and symptoms of burnout. Competence-based self-esteem was only trend-significant associated with symptoms of burnout.
