Remote sensing data is contaminated with different types of noise that can severely affect the analysis of this data. Generally, in modern treatment chains of satellite and aerial data, denoising techniques are applied to atmospherically corrected images prior to further analysis (e.g., classification). However, since the noise contaminates the measured radiance at the sensor, it can influence the atmospheric correction in itself and consequently the remaining of the processing chain.
