Excerpts from the report: This report is the fourth of a series of publications on a study of comparative costs of handling eggs by cooperatives. It summarizes data from 23 cooperatives in Northeastern, North Central, and Western States and compares costs in one area with another. Total costs, direct costs of specific operations, labor output per man-hour, and costs by type of pack are analyzed. This study had three major objectives: (1) To obtain information and data on costs and labor requirements of individual operations or steps in handling eggs; (2) to determine and measure the factors affecting costs and labor output; and (3) to test the findings by applying them to actual operating conditions.
