Quality of Life of Seniors in Home Care-Descriptive literature review.

Abstract Population is ageing globally. In Europe, current demographic projections forecast that the propor tion of seniors will continue to grow, and that the segment of seniors will continue to grow even faster. To cope with the challenges arising from this ageing population, policies and services are increasing focusing on living at home rather than relying on instutitions as the primary axis of care. The thesis examined the quality of life of seniors in home care. The purpose of this study was to review literature on quality of life of seniors in home care. The aim was to identify the factors that affect quality of life of seniors in home care. The study will assist nurses in providing holistic nurs ing care for seniors and thus improve their quality of life. Descriptive literature review was con ducted as a method of the study. Ten (N=10) articles were included from Cinahl Complete, Pub med and Google scholar in January 2021. The data was analyzed by using inductive content analy sis. The results of this thesis showed that it is important that seniors have choices, freedom, feel use ful and valued and they are given individualized care. Seniors requires meaningful activities and supportive social and physical environment. Nurse-client interaction is important. The features of home care that are most important are empathy, professionalism, housing location, housing type and ownership of care home. The results of the study could be used as materials for home care company and policy implement ors of home care. As a future study, a literature review on motivation and training for gerontologi cal and geriatric nurses is recommended so as to improve on the nursing care for seniors
