De cómo romper el cántaro: Esencia y ausencia en la escultura de Berrocal.

Under the proposal of a sculpture of the emptiness in the work of Miguel Berrocal, we study the influences of oriental thought in the sculptor's work and deepen the references through which the interest in this slippery notion that escapes Western understanding and its plastic expression. We approached whoever was his teacher, Angel Ferrant; the introducer of the hole in British sculpture of the twentieth century, Henry Moore; and his peers, Oteiza and Chillida, top representatives of a sculpture of emptiness in our country. The closing of this problem, to assume other challenges, means in Berrocal the closure and abandonment of this irresolvable issue. With this liquidation, he leaves aside a superior challenge that he will not face again in a committed way, although it will seep forever into his way of understanding the sculptural space.    Ante la proposición de una escultura del vacío en la obra de Miguel Berrocal, estudiamos las influencias del pensamiento oriental en el trabajo del escultor y profundizamos en las referencias a través de las que se filtraría en su trabajo el interés por esta noción escurridiza que escapa al entendimiento occidental y a su expresión plástica.Nos acercamos a quien fuera su maestro, Ángel Ferrant; al introductor del hueco en la escultura británica del siglo XX, Henry Moore; y a sus coetáneos, Oteiza y Chillida, máximos representantes de una escultura del vacío en nuestro país. El cierre de esta problemática, para asumir otros retos, supone en Berrocal la clausura y abandono de esta cuestión irresoluble. Con esta liquidación deja de lado un desafío superior que no volverá a afrontar de manera comprometida, aunque se filtrará para siempre en su manera de entender el espacio escultórico
