Alterations in elastase, leukocytes and neutrophils are seen following the acute administration of lethal doses (LD) of endotoxin, which also effectively induces of inflammation, but there are contradictory data such as conflicting theories and hypotheses concerning to the relationship between elastase levels and leukocyte counts or neutrophils percentage. Elastase and leukocytes (WBC) components were assessed in vivo at 10 minutes, 1 hour., 3 hr., 6 hr., 24 hr., and 7 days after administration of lipopolysaccharide E. coli endotoxin with and without a glycoprotein inhibitor (Urinastain).
