We made an experimental and a theoretical investigation on the turbulent noise generated by a multi-blade radial fan. To estimate the acoustic power due to the vortex shedding from the trailing edge of the blades, we proposed a new method to calculate the wake width which is an important parameter control the sound pressure level. The effects of the four parameter : the number of blades, the span length of the blade, the inner radius of the impeller and the volute angle of the scroll casing, on the turbulent noise were investigated. The agreement between the theoretical and the experimental results was satisfactory
