On the molluscan fossils from the Lower Formation of the Taishu Group in the Kamiagata district of Tsushima Islands

Abundant molluscan fossils were newly found from the Lower Formation of the Taishu Group at the pass between Yoshida and Kasa, Mine-son, Kamiagata-gun, Nagasaki Prefecture, in which seven species of pelecypods and three species of gastropods are distinguished; Glycymeris cisshuensis MAKIYAMA, Dosinia (Phacosoma) chikuzenensis NAGAO, Pitar sp., Callista sp., Lucinoma sp., Tellina sp., Ostrea sp., Turritella infralirata Nagao, Phyllonotus ashiyaensis (NAGAO) and Molopophorus denselineatus (NAGAO). From the similarity of the molluscan fauna with the other areas in North Kyushu and West Chugoku, it is appropriate to correlate the present fauna with so-called Ashiya fauna of the Ashiya Group and its equivalents
