MODAL SOSIAL DALAM PELESTARIAN SITUS PATIRTAAN DAN BUDAYA JAWA DI TOMBOAN DESA NGAWONGGO KECAMATAN TAJINAN

Patirtaan Ngawonggo is a holy ancient bathing site which was built in 944 AD by the Medang Kingdom. The Patirtaan site was previously visited by several tourists. However, the problem faced by the community and tourists is that there are no supporting facilities for the preservation of Javanese sites and culture, which led to the idea of making Tomboan. Tomboan has the character of preserving Patirtaan sites and Javanese culture which can be seen from the concept of entertaining visitors, applying manners (polite), clothing worn, writing place names, using Javanese script, and communicating using Javanese. Based on the conditions that have been described, it requires social capital for sustainable conservation. The purpose of this study is to describe social capital in the preservation of Patirtaan sites and Javanese culture in Tomboan. The method used is a qualitative research method with a case study approach. Subject collection technique using purposive sampling. The location of this research is Ngawonggo Village, Tajinan District, Malang Regency. The data collection used are: observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques used are: data reduction, categorization, data interpretation. This study uses social capital theory from Robert Putnam to examine three aspects of social capital, namely: trust, norms and networks to maintain the sustainability of sites and Javanese culture in Tomboan. The results showed that the application of social capital succeeded in uniting the community in the purpose of preserving the Patirtaan site and Javanese culture. Social capital is mainly trust and networks. These two elements play an important role in pioneering conservation, while the existing norms for the preservation of Javanese sites and culture in Tomboan are the result of interactions based on moral guidelines, religion, beliefs and community networks
