An Analysis of Meaning in Song Memories By Maroon 5

This thesis is entitled ‘An Analysis of Meaning in Song Memories By Maoon 5’. This study examines the meaning consisting of types of meaning and messages contained in the song. This study aims to describe the meaning of the song and the types of meaning. in addition, this study also aims to describe the moral message contained in song Memories by Maroon 5. In this study using seven types of meaning to find out the meaning in each sentence in the song, namely: (1) connotative meaning (2) dennotative or conceptual meaning (3) collocative meaning (4) social meaning (5) affective meaning (6) reflection meaning (7) thematic meaning. This study uses qualitative descriptive methods by describing the results of the analysis of the meaning of the song and the moral message found in the song ‘Memories’ by Maroon 5. The researcher used document as th sources of data, because it is written material. The results of this study can be described as follows, first this song tells about someone who is sad because he is left by the person he loves. Second. Researcher found six types of meaning from the seven types of meaning that already existed. For moral messages, the author found four moral mesages contained in the song Memories by Maroon 5
