PENGARUH KONFORMITAS TERHADAP PERILAKU MEROKOK: STUDI PADA REMAJA LAKI-LAKI SMPN XXX TANGERANG SELATAN

Conformity arises when individuals follow the behavior or attitudes of others due to pressure. Teenagers think a group will be very interesting and fulfill their need for close and concurrent relationships. Smoking can be a way for teenagers to feel accepted in their environment. This study aims to determine the effect of peer conformity on smoking behavior in adolescent boys at SMPN XXX South Tangerang. The method used in this research is correlational quantitative. The population in this study were male students at SMPN XXX South Tangerang who smoked with a minimum criteria of smoking 10 cigarettes per day. The number of research subjects was 244 people. The sampling technique used in this study is the snowball sample. Data analysis using simple regression analysis is used to test how the influence of each independent variable (X) on the dependent variable (Y). The results showed that there was a contribution between peer conformity to smoking behavior in adolescent boys at SMPN XXX South Tangerang (r = 0.527; p = 0.000)
