Background: Hepatorenal syndrome (HRS) is a frequent and serious complication in decompensated cirrhosis. The objective of this study was to describe the epidemiology, clinical profiles and outcomes of hepatorenal syndrome (HRS). Methods: This was a retrospective and descriptive study over a period of 75 months, from January 2011 to March 2017, carried out at the Gastroenterology Unit, University Hospital Joseph Raseta Befelatanana, Antananarivo, Madagascar. Results: The hospital prevalence of decompensated cirrhosis with HRS was 7.9% (41/519). The mean age of the patients was 49.8 ± 11.33 years (range 25–70 years).
