Introduction: In the discussion on cultural institutions in Poland, the role of values in creating their internal organizational culture is often emphasized. Among other things, questions are asked about the type of leadership that should be exercised and the values of the "ideal" "culture manager". However, reports from research studies exploring these issues are not numerous. The overall picture of the managerial staff of the aforementioned institutions also seems incomplete. This is a gap in knowledge about people institutionally organizing the cultural life of Poles.Aim of the study: The aim of the study was to assess the correlation between socio-professional characteristics, personal system of values and management styles of middle and high level management of Polish cultural institutions.Materials and methods: The study was conducted using the survey technique on 500 managers of various cultural institutions all over Poland. Personal List of Values (PLV), Managerial Grid (MG) were used. 128 correctly completed answer sheets were obtained.Results: 87.6% of the respondents have at least a master's degree, 54.7% are people under 45 years of age, (59.4%) applies an integrated management styleFor all people examined, the most appreciated values are "successful family life" and "love and friendship". The assumption about the differentiating role of socio-professional factors and personal value systems has not been confirmed.Conclusions: The middle and high-level management staff of Polish cultural institutions is very well educated. They are also relatively young managers. They are also efficient managers. Most of them display a management style that is often considered the most effective.Wprowadzenie: W dyskusji dotyczącej instytucji kultury w Polsce, często podkreślana jest rola wartości w tworzeniu ich wewnętrznej kultury organizacyjnej. Stawiane są między innymi pytania o rodzaj przywództwa jakie powinien sprawować oraz jakie wartości wyznawać „idealny” "menedżer kultury". Jednak doniesień z prac badawczych eksplorujących tę problematykę jest niewiele. Niepełny wydaje się także ogólny obraz kadry menedżerskiej wspomnianych instytucji. Stanowi to lukę w wiedzy na temat osób instytucjonalnie organizujących życie kulturalne Polaków.Cel badań: Celem pracy była ocena związku pomiędzy cechami społeczno-zawodowymi oraz osobistym systemem wartości a stylami kierowania średniego i wysokiego szczebla kadry kierowniczej polskich instytucji kultury.Materiały i metody: Badanie zostało przeprowadzone techniką ankiety na 500 menedżerach różnych instytucji kultury w całej Polsce. Użyto Listy Wartości Osobistych (LWO) oraz Siatki Stylów Kierowania (SSK). Uzyskano 128 poprawnie wypełnionych arkuszy odpowiedzi.Wyniki: 87,6% respondentów posiada wykształcenie co najmniej magisterskie, 54,7% to osoby do 45 roku życia, (59,4%) z nich przejawia zintegrowany styl kierowania Dla wszystkich badanych osób najbardziej cennymi wartościami są "udane życie rodzinne" oraz "miłość i przyjaźń". Nie potwierdzono założenia, o różnicującej roli czynników społeczno-zawodowych oraz osobistych systemów wartości.Wnioski: Personel kierowniczy średniego i wysokiego szczebla polskich instytucji kultury jest bardzo dobrze wykształcony.
