In Spain, youngsters increasingly postpone the age of «emancipation,» i.e. leaving their parent’s household. We should ask whether this phenomenon is exclusively due to cultural factors or is it related to the Spanish labor market situation. Prior studies in other countries and in Spain in the early 1990s have pointed out that both the household formation and labor activity are taken into account by young people. The purpose of this study is to determine whether these two decisions are still related in the case of young Spanish people.
