This paper deals with a period starting with the Anglo-irish Union up to the creation of the Irish Free State and its stabilization. A special emphasis is focused on the final stage of autonomy struggle from 1916 to 1923. The paper is divided into three main parts, where are analyzed key Ireland?s development events, which influenced the autonomy struggle and formation of the national identity.Diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou zrodu a formování irské národní identity v době boje za národní sebeurčení až po vznik samostatného státu. Tato práce se věnuje období od vzniku britsko-irské unie až po vznik Svobodného irského státu a jeho stabilizace. Zvláštní důraz je kladen na konečnou fázi boje za autonomii v letech 1916-1923. Práce je rozdělena na tři hlavní části, v nichž jsou rozebrány klíčové události vývoje Irska, které ovlivnily boj za samostatnost a zrod národní identity
