It proceeded from the present point of view of senior citizens in our society. To find and analyse the reasons and results of seniors in home care and in the institutional care, and more precisely in the residential facilities, is the main object of this work. In this Bachelor diploma you can find both a teoretical part and the practical one. The teoretical section found out due to processing and presentation of technical term the population ageing in the Czech Republic in the context of the whole society, difficulties of old age and possibilities of their solving. The practical part found out via questionnaire research in three nursing homes in different localities the own point of view of the seniors about the reasons, results of living in these facilities and the general satisfaction with the providing standard of living. The differences in localities and another geographical and socioeconomic aspects were taken into consideration. Sixty-five people were researched. The results showed that suppositions were proved only partially. They resulted the important part in providing high ? quality social service for seniors is a choice of the convenient ambience and the provider´s or visiting nurse´s approach.The curretly seniors´ situation in the nursing homes, their feelings, opinions and their own assessment are the significant contribution of this Bachelor thesis. Keywords: ageing, old age, demographics changes in society, gerontology, geriatricsBakalářská práce se zabývala problematikou stáří v ústavní a domácí péči a vycházela ze současného pohledu postavení seniorů ve společnosti. Jejím cílem bylo zjistit a analyzovat důvody i důsledky péče o seniora v domácím prostředí a v ústavní péči, resp. v rezidenčních zařízeních. Práce obsahovala jednak část teoretickou, která pomocí zpracování a prezentace odborných zdrojů objasnila stárnutí populace v České republice v kontextu celé společnosti,úskalí které s sebou stáří přináší a možnosti jejich řešení. Praktická část pak zajišťovala pomocí dotazníkového šetření ve třech domech s pečovatelskou službou v odlišných lokalitách pohled na vlastní situaci seniorů se zaměřením na důvody, důsledky bydlení v těchto zařízeních a celkovou spokojenost s poskytováním této sociální služby. Ohled byl brán na případné odlišnosti vzhledem k lokalitě a dalším geografickým a socioekonomickým aspektům. Výzkumný vzorek tvořilo celkem šedesátpět seniorů. Výsledky ukázaly, že hypotézy se potvrdily pouze částečně, a vyústily v závěr, že důležitou roli v poskytování kvalitní sociální služby seniorům je volba vhodného prostředí a přístup poskytovatele, resp. přímých pečovatelů. Za největší přínos práce vzhledem k řešené problematice bylo možné považovat zmapování situace seniorů v domech s pečovatelskou službou a to zejména jejich pocitů, názorů a vlastního hodnocení
