Salah satu teknik dalam memahami prilaku hidrologi DAS adalah dengan menganalisis morfometri DAS. Prilahu hidrolohi DAS di ekspresikan oleh bentuk hidrograf satuan. Konsep hidrograf satuan sintetik memberikan keunggulan dengan menghasilkan hidrograf satuan meskipun memiliki keterbatasan data hujan dan aliran. Karenanya banyak dikembangkan bergabai model hidrograf satuan sintetik, termasuk HSS Gama I yang dikembangkan di Indonesia.
