Current issues regarding the sound insulation planning of masonry buildings Traditional masonry walls can be found spaning many centuries, but in the last decades these building structures and the technologies have changed which affects the main properties of masonry walls regarding structural load, thermal insulation and finally the sound insulating capacity. The acoustical quality of buildings can be determined where noise should not exceed a certain level and can be quantified within noise limits and sound insulating requirements, but the fulfilment of these demands does not equal complaint-free use.
