Background: The availability of quality medicines in the provision of healthcare services is an integral part of universal health coverage (UHC). In low and middle-income countries (LMIC) the accessibility to essential medicines is often limited especially in peripheral healthcare facilities. The reasons for this situation include: - limited resources, weak transparency and poor accountability mechanisms in the pharmaceutical supply chain.
