Move analysis is a genre-based approach used to analyze academic writing and investigate the rhetorical pattern of the text such as academic paper, abstracts, thesis, etc. However, the analysis of rhetorical moves in the abstracts of lecturers’ final papers in different disciplines remains unexplored. The aim of this study is to identify and compare the rhetorical moves, steps, and linguistic features of the abstract of lecturers from four different disciplines. The researchers focused on the abstract of master theses and dissertations from each discipline.
